Temple Bar is a typical Irish Pub that might temporarily make you feel like you've stepped out of South America. This Retiro (almost MicroCentro) spot is most bustling in the evening, as it is a popular spot for a cold beer after a long day and the free WiFi (you have to ask for the password) makes it appealing to working stiffs. It is a mixed bag of business suits and expatriates wearing their team colors as it boasts three big screen televisions and is a good place to watch Premiere League football. There is also a dartboard and the worlds most difficult to maneuver pool table in the back to add to the fun.
The food runs the international gamut from Argentinean dishes to traditional "pub grub" and is a little on the pricey side though you won't notice because you will be distracted by cold beers on tap, a larger selection of imported bottles than you can find in most bars, a full list of liquor, and cute bar backs and waitresses. Weekdays also offer special lunch prices making it a great deal for the quality of the food. The wide array of meat and cheese plates is positively sinful and delicious. Milanesas, pastas, and creative tapas are all entirely tempting. Although the Happy Hour offfering changes weekly, it's a bit on the week side. Instead of the traditional 2x1 offer (where customers usually receive two drinks for the regular price of one), they offer two drinks for the price of TWO drinks minus two pesos - not the best deal in town.) There is occasional live music acts and if you call the friendly staff will advise you. If you are lucky enough to be visiting Buenos Aires on St. Patrick's Day head to The Temple Bar for the madness. Free WiFi.
