Café Richmond is a welcome break for tired feet on bustling Florida. Richmond has become a fixture for the caffeine deprived as it has been serving up remarkably strong coffee since 1917. The surroundings are formal with delectable cushy leather armchairs and impressive chandeliers. The waxed tile floors combined with the long bar give the feeling of a hotel lobby and the wait staff is equally dapper and prim. During the lunch hour the place is teeming with business suits and tourists alike all willing to overpay for the sake of being in such good company.

Downstairs in the basement Richmond opens up for seemingly endless games of chess and billiards, adding to the charm. It is also known that Jorge Luis Borges was a sometime customer and may have scribbled some ideas on Richmond's cocktail napkins. The menu is extensive if not particularly creative. Various sandwiches and salads are on offer along with hot sandwiches, lunch specials, hamburgers, and pastas. There is an extensive cocktail list available and about 30 well-priced regional wines available. Richmond also offers WiFi (which is speedy in the non-smoking section in the front and can be insanity-inducingly slow in the back) making it a great place to camp out and get inspired.
