Turn on, tune in, listen up cause this is cutting-edge cool on a funky frequency. For a bar with a difference, or perhaps more accurately, a difference with a bar, Radioset hits the spot. Taking the concept bar model to its logical extremes, it’s exactly that – a radio set. While the urban-chic sit sipping on their cocktails, the DJs broadcast live across the nation. (For information on the shows themselves and broadcasting times visit the website www.radioset.com.ar). The flashy glass-front recording studio adds a quirky touch of class to this already über-trendy bar, and with happy hour offering $7AR Quilmes, customers can kick back happy with a beer while the action goes on around them. For the more cosmopolitan drinker an impressive list of cocktails ranges from $13-17AR, with the pricier ‘Radio 4M’ – an exotic blend of Absolut Mandarin, Maracuyá, Mango and Mint weighing in at $18AR. A fairly standard main menu of chicken and meat dishes, all around the $20AR mark are offset by excellent salad options – not an easy thing to find in Buenos Aires – making this a great choice for vegetarians. While the food is good it is really the ambiance and the setting you’re paying for. Its attractive waterfront location makes it a great spot to sit outside and take in the water, and the classy modern interior and studio edge, make it an attractive night-time hangout as well. For an early evening cocktail and a bit of ‘on air’ action, Radioset’s spot-on the right wavelength. —Radioset review by Tessa Pettman
