Prólogo is recognizable in the crowd of bars and restaurants in Plaza Serrano by its dubious location between “the blue bar” (Tazz) and “the bar with the giant Heineken sign on top". Nothing else really sets this friendly and unassuming place apart from the others and, for this reason, you can from time to time find an empty chair – a rarity in Plaza Serrano – though usually not after 1am. Like a lot of bars and restaurants in the neighborhood, this is mostly a pre-party spot where friends come to gather on the way to meet other friends and maybe meet some new friends along the way. While the ambiance may seem a little mixed holding a crowd of people unable to find space elsewhere, the service is friendly and the food is tasty.

Prólogo consists of a pretty uneventful space. Purple walls accent about 20 wood tables and black chairs with about 10 more upstairs. There’s not much to look at unless you really dig erratically placed neon beer signs. Despite its lamentable décor, Prólogo is friendly and when it fills up around 1am, the chat can reach deafening levels as the canned music struggles to compete. Late on Friday evening the stereo blasts The Rolling Stones and even the hardhearted can’t help but tap their feet.

This is a good place to stop over for pizza or picadas (snacks) on the way to dance the night away. A fresh, delicious picada platter of fiambres (deli meats & cheeses) and olives and other delicacies serves 5 people for $50AR and would satisfy even the hungriest club-goers. Several wines are available but the kids come for the beer. The big blue bottle of Quilmes is $8AR and as alsways, a party in itself.
