'Timeless ageless, the date you can't miss!' is written on the front of their worn, orange, paper menus. Even so, it's the one café in San Telmo you can't miss. Centrally located on the northeast corner of San Telmo's historic Plaza Dorego, this popular-with-the-tourists café bar is one of two cafes on the Plaza where you can sit, relax, and people watch to your heart's content. Usually there is live music and tango shows, depending on the day and the mood of the visitors. Covering a good quarter of the plaza with its blue chairs and umbrellas and white plastic tables, if you stop for a quick bite in the plaza you're probably at Dorrego Café. Or grab a seat inside, if available, and enjoy the typical San Telmo bar atmosphere including formally clad waitstaff.

Typical café bar food and drinks include: specialty coffees, sandwiches, hamburgers and lomitos (steak sandwiches), salads, juices, milkshakes, beer and a decent variety of wines and mixed drinks, like the Septimo Regimiento (whisky, Campari, cognac, gin, vogka, Cinzano, & seasonal fruit…mmm). This is where you stop off for last call in the wee hours of the morning.
