After the Falkland/Malvinas Islands War, Fernando Ruben would periodically gather with fellow Vets, preparing elaborate feasts and NOT talking about the conflict. Apparently these meals were so good that Ruben was told he should open a restaurant. 25 years later, "La Tregua" (The Truce) is the realization of that dream. Situated in an otherwise uninhabited intersection in up and coming Barracas, La Tregua's subdued interior and chic furnishings seem to pop up out of nowhere.

For $8-$20AR, you can choose from a variety of seafood options, such as an outstanding plate of fried calamari, "Salteados de Wok," stir-fry fusions combining ingredients like pink salmon, veal, and assorted vegetables, and the standard parilla fare. The wine list is substantial and affordable, and for dessert, you can't miss with the Copa la Tregua, a luscious ice cream sundae. La Tregua has only been open for two months and mostly serves visitors from outside the neighborhood, but it's variety and quality should earn it a stellar reputation in no time. Reservations are encouraged.
