As its name implies, La Esquina Café occupies a serene street corner in Palermo bordered by the verdant Jardín Botánico. This casual, upscale café is generally patronized by an older crowd, possibly because of its quiet location and tranquil ambiance. The salmon colored walls give a warm glow to the café, complemented by a wooden bar and chairs stained in a rich honey. The dozen tables inside all sport light green tablecloths covered with glass tops, and a pale green loveseat sits in the far right corner of the dining area. Sheer white curtains drape the windows and colorful paintings hang from the walls, adding a homey touch. La Esquina brings the outdoors in with a variety of potted plants scattered throughout. The musical selection played indoors consists of classical tunes to adult contemporary. A few wooden tables outdoors offer a view of the lovely Jardín along the generally peaceful street of Republica Árabe Siria.

La Esquina has a lengthy menu of standard café offerings, but their most interesting items are their delicious desserts. Upon entering the café, patrons immediately come face to face with the display case full of tempting treats, including fruit tortas and chocolate delicacies. If you want a little dinner with your dessert, La Esquina has pastas ($11-14ARG), sandwiches ($7-10ARG), and a long list of salads and picadas. The café also has a wide array of breakfast items on the menu, such as omelettes, pancakes, tartas, and pastries. La Esquina offers a light alcohol selection, mostly consisting of specialty coffees for $7-8ARG. The wait staff is capable though not generally attentive. Overall the food is quite good, and its proximity to the Jardín Botánico makes La Esquina a pleasant spot for a relaxing post-park meal.
