Kilkenny

Hours: Daily 11am - 2am
Price range: $$$

The dank, cave-like confines of the Kilkenny are extremely popular among tourists and Portenos alike. The beer is pricey (Guinness runs you $16, while bottles of Warsteiner and Heineken are the cheapest options at $9), but the cocktails ($6-17) and "Pubs Grubs" (kebobs, chicken strips, veggie tempura, Celtic steak and potatoes with relish, $10) are quite reasonable.

The circular space accommodates groups with large tables and booths, while several dark, cozy niches please the couples in this makeout-happy city. The Kilkenny doesn't feel much like a traditional Irish pub, but it draws a crowd as soon people start getting off of work and maintains it until late in the night; DJs transform the atmosphere after 10pm. Some find the throngs of people and loud English conversations repellent, but this trendy spot is recommended in just about every Buenos Aires city guidebook for a reason.
