Club Eros warrants a write-up and a pin on the map for being the single most UN-Palermo eatery in Palermo. This neighborhood is famous for intricate, sumptuous, ethnic, and sinful world-class cuisine and some major restaurant real estate lies on all sides of Eros. Here, however, hungry diners will not find silky tablecloths, crystal wine goblets, or hand-carved garnish. Instead you will find real food, real people, and real fun with absolutely no frills in sight.

Club Eros is primarily a teenage football club, ping pong party, and sometime Aikido Dojo that doubles as a parilla after 8:30pm. Kids can be found playing on the indoor court and some tables are close enough to catch sweat. The restaurant area is totally non-descript – nothing on the walls (except the coat racks), peeling paint, stacked crates, the two obligatory televisions, and about 20-30 tables with fresh breadbaskets. The menu is a tiny piece of cardboard on the table. The reason to visit is the mountains of fresh, delicious, and cheap food.

Diners here are young, old, male, female, and (almost without exception) local. There is no background music and the place is alive with animated conversation. It feels like an old school house – friendly and familiar. Food is standard fare: chicken, ribs, or steak (all cooked to perfection) for about $6AR accompanied by sensational, steak-cut fries for $3AR, a couple of other side dishes, and (of course) pasta. Get there early because the place fills up around 10pm and is standing room only on the weekends. This is where visitors should head when the pretension of Palermo gets them down.
