The martinis are a perfected art and made-on-the-premise gnocchi will melt in your mouth. As you approach, massive vault-like doors swing open and present a new world of elegance. German Chef Martitegui's food is art. Appetizers such as beef carpaccio wrapped around asparagus and red tuna tartar served with a corn-salad, coconut and horseradish will warm your palate. Decadent entrées including veal tenderloin with bacon, Portobello mushrooms, asparagus and bok choy, or Patagonian trout served with crab-mashed potatoes are on cue. All desserts are made on premise, and are arguably the highlight of the menu. Don't forget the wine; Casa Cruz has one of the best lists in town. Owner Juan Santa Cruz hands selects the nightly music, changing the style and tempo as the night progresses. Dim lighting against dark walls with thick red chairs create a rich, sultry ambiance. The spacious restaurants room provides for large and small parties alike. Prices are as high as they get in Buenos Aires; your payment is as much for the experience as for the self proclaimed "urban Argentine" cuisine. Call ahead for reservations or plan to spend hours sipping on drinks at the bar as you wait. Major Credit-cards are accepted. —Casa Cruz - Resto-Bar review by Gena Mavuli
