This neighborhood gem risks going unnoticed hidden under a green and white striped awning on the busy Avenida San Juan just one block from Plaza Dorrego - but the mother-son duo need not worry.  There is rarely a seat to spare; whether it be for a lunch of light, unique, and original tapas or a delicious dinner of salmon with sautéed vegetables.

Small, intimate, and cozy, Café San Juan is the type of place where it’s easy to lose track of time.  Bistro-esque in décor with its open kitchen behind a dark wooden bar, high shelves thoughtfully decorated with bottles of local wine, and black tables with red square tops Café San Juan is still full of genuine neighborhood charm.  Its menu is done up in chalk on red framed blackboards that are personally brought to your table by one of the smiling staff.

Tango music plays lightly in the background as heaping plates of steaming mussels make the short trip from the kitchen to one of the ten tables in the quaint restaurants area. When the sun is shining there are a few patio tables set out on the sidewalk for those interested in some people watching and who don’t mind the bustle from Avenida San Juan.
