The proprietor or proprietors of Bartolomeo Bar are being rather modest with their signage when they claim ‘art and wine bar’. In fact, their bar also presents live music, and a broad selection of food catering to the three meals of the day. But how to combine the four pillars of entertainment without encroaching on the quality of any? To begin with, the art gallery is hidden away upstairs with only a staircase tempting visitors to an adventure beyond. Having said that, Bartolomeo Bar comfortably functions as a café and bar for most of its opening hours, where the only remnants of the music venue are the stage which perches a few lucky diners above their compatriots, and some industrial speakers and lighting rigs which dangle in daylight dormancy. The selections of wine, while prominent on the menu, are safely cellared and couldn’t really be advertised as a showcase. Linking the venues disparate elements is a pronounced Italian theme. Almost every surface is a stark variation on a prime colour - soft yellow, burgundy, or deep blue – yet all are overwhelmed, as odd as it might sound, by the chequered table clothes. Lazing back in some of the most comfortable chairs in the capital, guests can enjoy live music on most Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, although these are sparse occurances in the summer moths. Wine is obviously a prominent fixture at Batrolomeo Bar with a fine selection of Argentinean reds from a number of fincas (wineries). The usual Argentine cuisine is on offer with an emphasis on creating your own sandwiches and salads from a broad list of fresh ingredients. Access to the salad bar is $10AR, while the menu of the day checks in at $11AR.
