Even coming in from a chilly winter’s walk, Artemisia warms you up as soon as you step in the door. Everything about the place is welcoming upon arrival; from the warm, low-hanging light fixtures, to the enticing aroma of the fresh bread selection, this is the place to wile away some hours. There are about 20 tables, green tiled floors, jars of grains lined up behind the bar area, and a selection of original paintings, giving the space a distinctly bohemian and artistic feel. The owner and wait staff are friendly and menus arrive printed on paper bags. An evening at Artemisia is something to write home about before you have even ordered your food.

A selection of breads arrive at the table and filling up is dangerous as several courses of enticing, freshly-prepared, delicious food will follow but it is hard to resist. Artemisia is almost entirely vegetarian with about five fish dishes marking their foray in to the carnivorous world. Homemade specialties include polenta lasagna, wok-fried rice with carrot sauce, and salmon ravioli. Prices for entrees range from $13-20AR and the trouble will be which gorgeous dish to wash down with ginger lemonade (a bottle for two will set you back $10AR. After filling up with fresh food, it is hard to resist the carrot cake or coconut flan for $8-11AR on the desert menu or list of herbal teas or wine. It is, however, worth saving space, as visitors are likely to want to return for more.
