Located just two blocks east of the Alto Palermo shopping center, Aceto & Oliva’s cool mix of industry, antique, and organic decorations provides an ambience to satisfy the trendsetter and the bohemian in a traditional Argentine parilla setting. This Palermo eatery has managed to make a large warehouse building intimate and chic; the walls alternate between a deep red and a bright green, highlighting the painted black metal beams supporting the roof above.

The front of the restaurant is made entirely of windows, offering a look at tables in the forward dining area and a glimpse of the split dining levels towards the back. While lighting in the front pours in from the windows, lighting in the back is subtly incorporated with pocket lights and the warm glow of small lanterns hanging throughout the restaurant. Very large antiqued wooden tables grace the bottom level, decorated with two bright red table runners and white napkins embroidered with the initials of the restaurant’s namesake. Wine bottles sit on dark wooden shelves along the kitchen wall. Planters of bamboo poles and dried plants contribute to the organic feel of the restaurant, along with large wall paintings of fruits and vegetables.

The décor of the restaurant is an accurate reflection of Aceto & Oliva’s most well-known menu items: their salad bar and their parilla offerings. Their salad bar is unique among Buenos Aires restaurants, offering a variety of fresh pickings for $8AR (all-you-can-eat). A wide variety of chicken and meat entrees are offered for $14-21AR, while their delectable parilla made for two or more runs about $38AR. An array of pasta dishes is also available ($12-15)AR along with side dishes to complement, such as mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and onion rings ($2-6AR). Aceto & Oliva has a variety of vino tintos and vino blancos for ARG$13-25 per bottle, along with cocktails, champagne, and coffees. Although the majority of patrons are locals, the wait staff is extremely friendly to both foreigners and natives alike and can assist English-speakers with menu questions. Wait times are short or non-existent in this quiet and cozy parilla.
