“Estamos festejando porque todo esto que nos pasa es una señal divina que nos estamos vivo.” “We’re celebrating because everything that happens to us is a divine sign that we are alive” Such is the cover page of the menu at the “Old Indecent.” Soon upon entering, it becomes evident that this resto/bar is made for enjoying the simple pleasures of life: fabulous music, board games, rich food, friends, and a variety of freely flowing drink. Live music on weekends is part of the claim to fame with popular local favorites including Claudia Puyó; Willy Crook; Viviana Scaliza y Cristina Dall. Guest DJs often frequent Viejo Indecente; call ahead to see what's on the agenda. The menu is anything but indecent, rather it’s ample, respectable and classy. Choose from Quesadilla Indecente ($17AR) which is loaded with cheese, two meats of your choice and all the fixins’, to meal-type choices chicken in a creamy fresh mushroom sauce ($20). Argentine stand-bys of pasta and pizza fill half the menu along with the obligatory tostadas and pastry. Deep-purple colored walls, high beamed ceilings, and thick wooden furniture give this corner bar the feeling of someplace one might just as easily find in a college town in Maine as is chic and trendy Buenos Aires. The back room has low couches for long nights and rich beer; take a look at the bar, its got a high yet sturdy pyramid-like display of liquor on show. Tip: lunch is 50% off Monday-Friday; thus it’s clear this is a popular nightspot. However, with such pricy and snooty places in this Palermo Viejo neighborhood, it’s a treat find such deals. Viejo Indecent also has a location in Retiro at San Martin 961, offering a similar ambiance and restaurants if a cab-ride to Palermo is too much to handle.
