From the moment the hulking wooden door - which feels like the entrance gate to a medieval city - swings open, it is clear that Sucre is a place to see and be seen.  The architectural centerpiece in this incredibly open converted warehouse space is a large square whitewashed brick structure resembling Sucre's minimalist logo. This not only gives some form to the restaurants area but also serves as a temperature controlled wine room keeping most of Sucre’s excellent wine selection perfectly chilled.

Such a wide open space ensures that everyone - from the patrons to the talented kitchen staff openly working away at the back of the restaurant - play a role in the creation of the buzzing atmosphere that gives Sucre a vibe almost more enjoyable than the food itself.  A bit dark and mysterious, the restaurants area is a maze of dark cherry wooden tables, deep chocolate brown couches, and bar top tables giving the feel of lounge, bar and restaurant all rolled into one.  A giant display of colorfully illuminated liquor bottles behind the bar adds a splash of vibrant life to the otherwise chilled out surroundings.

The wait staff, in their trendy black uniforms are perfectly attentive and friendly in a professional way and most are bilingual.  Pricey for Argentine standards innovative starters ($11AR-$26AR) and mains ($25AR-$31AR) are artfully presented but will no doubt leave room for dessert.  Of course the ever-present role of the grill in Argentine cuisine is not forgotten at Sucre where they have a special grilled section of the menu including the chef’s daily recommendation ($29AR-$46AR).  The savvy wine list includes not only Argentine wines but also has some French, Spanish, and Italian flare as well as a sommelier who is sure to please.  Sucre also has a smaller less expensive lunch menu which includes tapas, salads, and mains ranging from $6AR-$23AR.
