This traditional no-frills family run and owned pizzeria is a great place to refuel before heading out for another round of antiquing. Located just off the the main drag of Defensa, on Bolivar between Estados Unidos and Carlos Calvo, Pedro Telmo is marked by the lone Quilmes sign sturdily hung above the entrance. Walking by at any time of the day passerbys are likely to see one of the chefs hard at work through three large street-facing windows, risking only the secrets of old family recipes.

Always bustling, whether for lunch or dinner, diners will be sure to get an unforgettable dose of Porteño hospitality served up with perfectly crisp Napolitana pizza or gnocchi with hearty meat sauce. The tall wooden beamed ceilings and turquoise accented interior, including an apparant turquoise stripper pole, and the oddly placed occasional horse racing picture on the walls create a feeling of bizzare hominess. Locals and tourists alike can rub elbows at the cozily arranged tables; whether restaurants with friends, a good book, or just paying attention to one of the two televisions mounted in opposite corners of the restaurant. A long counter lining almost the entire back wall of the restaurant displays the days freshly made tartas and empanadas, a juicer that could easily be mistaken for an old fashioned cash register, and views of the espresso machine which is always hard at work.

Pedro Telmo serves up a wide assortment of tasty pizzas, empanadas, pastas, salads, and sandwiches, some oddly enough donning names of specific US cities and States, including the New York, the Mississippi, and the ever popular Las Vegas, delivered by the super friendly family staff on green and white-checked paper place mats. Wine and beer selections are limited but surprisingly enough they offer champagne and sangria. An assortment of desserts are also available.
