Slap bang in the middle of the fashionable barrio of Las Cañitas is Jackie O’s, a prime hotspot for the young and the beautiful. During the week it serves as a restaurant in the style of a modern Irish pub while at weekends it turns into a boliche (nightclub) blasting out house and techno till six in the morning. The three medium sized floors are all dimly lit with blue light, but this is to create a hip atmosphere rather than any intimacy. As a restaurant, it is a fun destination to go with the friends as it feels lively and vibrant. The menu is similar to that of an Irish or British pub with a few Argentine specialities mixed in. Jackie O’s is more famous for its weekend action though when the restaurant turns into a bar/boliche. It is typically frequented by the aesthetically fortunate Porteños in the area which in turn attracts us mere mortals. As well as the opportunity to be seen around the beautiful people the bar pumps out electronic music, giving all and sundry the chance to impress with fancy dance moves. There is a $10AR minimum consumption charge at the door and the drinks inside are not too expensive. All of which makes the bar well worth checking out. —Jackie O's review by Paul Smithson
