![]() Soyful delight in the middle of Buenos Aires, Grill & Soja is a vegitarian's paradise. Photo by Clare Nisbet It takes some serious personality and some serious guts to grill milanesa de soja (breaded tofu) side by side with Argentinean chorizo (beef sausage), yet somehow Grill & Soja manage to pull if off with an element of grace. This restaurant is proud of being a mix of high quality meat and creative soy dishes in an attempt to dispel the Argentine myth that tofu is a lethal poison. This is a great option for vegetarians restaurants with meat lovers and is extremely popular with neighboring businesses. Peak lunchtime tables are scarce. The restaurant holds about 20 tables and is a sheetrock fantasy of modern understatement. There is a sheetrock bar to match and television programming projected onto a wall without sound as moody music is pumped from the speakers to lull you through lunch. The tall vases of flowers on the bar add a touch of freshness to the otherwise stark surroundings. Buenos Aires can be a tough city for vegetarians and menus this creative and alternative are few and far between. Grill & Soja offers up large helpings at great prices from vegetarian pasta options like soy and spinach ravioli to soy stroganoff with curry rice. Tofu burgers are available as are burgers of 50% tofu and 50% meat – once again proving just how diplomatic soy lovers can be. Salad options run from $6-$9AR ($2-3USD) while main courses are hard to find above $15AR ($5USD) making this a great deal. Grill & Soja have recently expanded their hours to include Thursday and Friday after-office happy hour with beer specials and later hours (til 7pm) but the best reason to visit is still lunch, still soy. —Grill & Soja review by Clare Nisbet
