If it werent for the ironic signs plastered about this dimly lit English pub, you might be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled into Sherlock Holmes’ living room. The dark red walls are covered with vintage maps, and in a loft above the bar the owners have recreated an English study, complete with tattered old books and antique lamps. A small TV near the door shows mostly sports. In the rear, behind the kitchen you’ll discover a pool table, a Ms. Pacman machine, and a small ivy-walled garden. Gibraltar features seven beers on tap, and what they claim is Buenos Aires’ best selection of scotches. The menu has an international flavor, with chicken vindaloo and Thai curry in addition to traditional pub fare. The music selection tends towards sentimental 90’s rock (Counting Crows, Blind Melon) geared towards the largely expat clientele. Cash Only —Gilbraltar review by Sam Slaughter
