Walking into Don Ernesto is a little like stepping into the 1920’s, minus, of course, the big band, white tuxedos and outlandish flapper dresses. Dark grained antique wood paneling is the dominant motif, dominated by a wide oak staircase that leads up to a second level loft area. Above the wood paneling that runs around the room at waist height, the whitewashed walls are home to hundreds of messages of gratitude written in permanent marker and sandwiched between dozens of antique photos. The vaulted roof is slightly barn-ish and giant old mirrors complete the effect. Don Ernesto has a huge selection on its menu, including a seafood paella that’s big enough to feed a platoon. It also features a good-sized wine list. Most bottles cost between $10AR and $AR, but there are some more expensive options as well. —Don Ernesto review by Sam Slaughter
