If it’s your birthday, or your celebrating a million dollar business merger, or you want to impress the stripper your taking on a date, or if your just in the mood to spend a ton of dough on an unforgettable meal, then Las Lilas is the place for you.

This Puerto Madero parrilla has the reputation of being the best place to eat steak in Buenos Aires, and it didn’t get that reputation by accident.  If you go there, count on them having to roll you out.  The steaks are enormous, and tasty enough to melt in your mouth.  The waiters are dressed better than you are, and they keep your appetite whetted with a never-ending plates of of succulent appetizers.  Its a constant struggle not to stuff yourself before your steak even arrives.   When it does, you may chuckle at the little plastic cow figurine jabbed into the meat, smiling at you and bearing the words “Estoy jugoso," - "I am juicy" (meaning rare).

The interior décor is heavy on wood and there’s a glass window on the kitchen where you can see the enormous cuts of beef being prepared.  Its a large place but its almost always crowded, so make a reservation.  If not you can expect to wait at least 20 minutes, but you can pass the time in the tables around Las Lilas’ well stocked bar.  For the best dinner views, ask for a table outside, where the patio looks out on Dique 4 and the Puente Calatrava.

Though Las Lilas has many outstanding traits, cost efficiency is not one of them.  Count on spending around 50 pesos for a steak, 12 for a beer, and 50 for a bottle of wine from their extensive list of Argentine and international vintages.  The Ojo de Bife, among other things, is sumptous..
