For a taste of Armenian cuisine and culture there is no better experience than Armenia Restaurant. Located on Calle Armenia above the Armenian Cultural Centre and opposite an Armenian Church, it is the most authentic Armenian restaurants experience in Buenos Aires. In terms of the food on offer it definitely does not disappoint, but on top of this diners are given the opportunity to learn all about the country too.

As well as the small exhibition inside the restaurant and the informative leaflets that can be requested, various Armenian traditions are also respected. On Friday and Saturday nights - when there are shows of song and dance – diners are greeted at the door with bread and salt. This is a symbolic gesture in Armenia whereby the person offering the bread basically saying the equivalent of mi casa es su casa. The shows are free of charge and very entertaining.  Members of the audience are even invited up on stage at one point to join in the fun.

The restaurant is very elegant with wood panelling along the walls and chandliers hanging from the ceiling. One wall is made up of full length windows looking out over the strikingly lit up cathedral across the road. This is an excellent view to enjoy while eating. The menu is in Spanish and English and all the food is well explained. The style of meals in Armenia is to have an abundance of food on the table, perfect for those who like their meals to last a few hours with plenty of great food and wine.

Reservations are a must on Fridays and Saturdays.
