For those that were wondering where the gringos go to drink when they are not around the corner at El Alamo, look no further than the Shamrock. This is an Irish themed bar though more Argentine modern than Dublin Pub in attitude and ambiance. Despite a tendency towards speaking English and high drink prices, The Shamrock is always stowed with friendly tourists and a smattering of locals that are ready to have a great time. The Shamrock boasts “the longest happy hour in town” from 6pm until midnight and even on weeknights, during these hours it is shoulder-to-shoulder standing room only. After 12:30am when the staff stops allowing customers to cash in on the two-for-one happy hour drink specials (check the board for latest drink specials), the crowd definitely thins out a little – but not much. Happy hour also boasts $4AR well drinks.

Decorated with everything from cheeky nude photos (check out those sassy bathroom doors!) to breathtaking Donegal scenery, there is a lot to see here. Trouble is, the place is so friendly it’s impossible to not have someone to chew the fat with and you might not get a chance to check out the dark wood booths. The Shamrock knew it was on to something when they were cramming them in like sardines, so from Thursday to Saturday the basement opens up and the club beats blast from 1am into the wee hours. There are also regular live acts – call for upcoming shows. With a ridiculously rockin’ happy hour and such buena onda, it’s really hard to not dig The Shamrock.
