The famous Buenos Aires nightlife can imply an epic night at the widely-frequented Pacha or Opera Bay but those looking for a smaller scale, almost underground, but no less unique experience should look no further than this darkened corner of San Telmo. The real deal in the Buenos Aires club scene doesn’t get going until around 3 or 4am and Fugees knows it. Getting inside usually involves a line and a borderline-invasive search – but it’s all well worth the trouble. This is the place to head for serious hip hop, serious dancing, serious drinks, and seriously buena onda.

In terms of size Fugees doesn’t compare to epic nightspots like Pacha with its thousands of clubgoers. What they lack in capacity they more than make up for in style. Prices are reasonable as a cover charge will usually cost around $10AR depending on their headlining DJ and a bucket (you heard me – BUCKET – of Isenbeck) will set you back just $8AR and a cocktail about $10-15AR. Not bad by standard nightlife prices in this town.

Resident DJ Alex knows how to get smiles on guests’ faces and by 4am when the dance floor breaks out partiers might feel like they accidentally walked onto the set of You Got Served 2 or something. Those who like hip hop, dancing until dawn, and being part of the craziest night in town this place should be way up on the list of things to see or do in Buenos Aires.

There is a small and absolutely stowed dance floor in the back and revelers who feel the beat should grab a square inch and boogie down. Towards the front, near the always-crowded bar there are couches for mellower partygoers or perhaps those that have already partied a little too hard. The upstairs is smaller but gives a killer view of the action on the dance floor and sometimes offers an alternate DJ choice.

Those looking for a night to remember in Buenos Aires should look no further than Fugees 99. Kick ass music, impromptu breakdancing sessions, some of the friendliest barstaff in town, and serious drinks to boot… need I say more?
