Imaginario Cultural is a fine bar in Abasto to settle down in for a few cocktails with friends or simply to enjoy some alone time. It has a very relaxed feel to it with its low lighting, plus the chilled music is at a reasonable volume so it is not a struggle to hear either oneself think or others talking. Being a few blocks away from Palermo means it is a great place to stop in to before heading out to a boliche or club. On the other hand, clubs are not everyones cup of tea, so its handy that this bar is open till 6am on weekends. Perfect for those who prefer chin-wagging than hip-shaking in the early hours. The bar is sparsely decorated inside. High red brick walls with wide black pipes running up them and grey stone floors give off the image of being under an old railway bridge. The two spooky dolls of an old couple peering over the edge of the upstairs platform do nothing to dispell this image either. The seating area is medium sized but is not usually too busy so tables are normally available. An interesting decoration are the vertical fans spinning in opposite directions on the ceiling. They probably don’t help too much with air circulation but are almost hypnotic to look at. A selection of pizzas and burgers are available all night. —Bar Imaginario Cultural review by Paul Smithson
