In a new attempt to bring some nightlife to the financial district, which generally goes dead around 5pm, DeBar sprung up on a busy but uneventful block of Rivadavia. The green fluorescent lights attract from the street and the bar is modern and sparse. DeBar is just one large room with 30 tables or so, dimly lit in green with a brightly fluorescent-lit bar. In this case, less is more as DeBar is totally unassuming yet provides a great environment for everything from after-work unwinds or drinking until the wee hours. Music pumps from the speakers to give the place a pulse and ranges tends towards the techno to keep toes tapping.
DeBar has a notable happy hour until midnight offering Heineken at a 2-for-1 price and generous discounts on well drinks. DeBar’s recent soft opening in August of 2006 was well-met though they haven’t yet established a regular crowd. However, since the place is straddled by the popular Lime House and BA Stop Hostels, the place is guaranteed to be welcomed by young drinkers and packing them in very soon. A great pre-party or post-party stopover and open to the wee hours.
