Now this is an atmospheric little spot!  With its red lighting, dark green walls and vaulted brick ceilings Charo Living Bar is nothing if not intimate.  As the name suggests it does feel a bit like somebody’s living room; and quite a sexy one at that.  The lounge area, with its saggy and soft white leather couches is pretty seductive.  It seats about fifteen during the day and God knows how many after dark.  Two sensuous and very large oil paintings fill the walls.  The garden gnome keeping an eye on proceedings from one of the window ledges looks like he’s got some stories to tell.  The bar itself is tiny and crowded and features a plastic camel.  And why indeed not.

Charo is a chilled out coffee shop as well as a bar, with papers and magazines available to while away the hours with.  The coffee menu includes all the usual varieties plus, of course, the mandatory medialunas, or “croissants” to the English speaking world.  Prices are about $4AR, double for those who want a little drop of Whiskey or Brandy in their Joe.  Beers, including Heineken and Quilmes, are available in big and small bottles priced at about $8AR and $5AR, respectively.  The all-Argentinean wine list offers reds and wines varying in price from the early teens to well into the twenties.  Picadas, platters of cold cuts and cheeses, are available to share, costing between $20AR and $30AR, depending on size.
