Rocket Bar & Bistro, run for the past year by British expatriate Martyn Scource and his friendly staff, offers a slightly exotic lunchtime break. There is no artwork or thematic décor, just a pleasantly air conditioned café and wood bar. The posted sandwich menu offers a wide array of sandwiches and panini with the occasional flair of roast beef, imported cheese or salmon. Rocket's Specials board is where things get interesting, offering heaping, fresh, creative salads or hot dishes ranging from Thai and Indian Curries with rice, Beef and Orange Casserole, and a meat loaf (just like Mom made!). Each day brings new delights for locals working in the financial district.

For a special taste, head to Rocket for their full English breakfast and a change from café con leche and medias lunas (also on hand if bulking up in the morning is not your scene). $12 (US$4) buys you any lunch special and a soda, an additional $4 (US$1.25) throws in a dessert or appetizer: start with a fresh soup or top it off with cheesecake. Beware! Particularly during the summer months, later hours are non-existent so if you are thinking of heading for dinner or a happy hour bottle of wine ‹ call ahead! (seasonal)
