All About Buenos AiresIntroduction to Buenos Aires | Buenos Aires History | Buenos Aires Culture | Buenos Aires Weather | Buenos Aires Websites ![]() Photograph by Greg Roden. Buenos Aires Weather | El Clima en Buenos AiresWeather in Buenos Aires moodily changes, even drastically within the same day, at the drop of a tangueros hat. From warm humid tropical spring and summer systems, originating in the northern Amazon rainforest, pouncing on the city at times with torrential rains and huge dazzling displays of ecstatic lightning, to cold fall and winter storms, sweeping in from the West and South, known as sueresteres or 'Southeasterns,' blowing in from the Antarctic Patagonian region, bringing colder, wetter weather. Simply put, the weather in Argentina is amazing. Sweet, sultry and sunny spring days of splendid heat; humid, sweltering summers; golden, leafy moderate falls; cold, wet and windy winters with days of dry and warm sunshine mixed in are just some of the ways to describe the Buenos Aires climate, not unlike New York or several European countries minus the harsh snowy winters. Winter temperatures here drop to an average low in the coldest month of June to 5°C with a high of only 14°C. Summer temperatures range between an average low of 17°C and a high of 29°C. Annual rainfall for Buenos Aires is 950mm spread evenly over the course of the year and storms can pass through anytime in sporadic, almost schizophrenic bouts with torrential downpours and gigantic hail the size of oversized golf balls not uncommon. |
